An English toffee recipe, inspired by Mrs. Weasley’s Easter parcels in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Rich, buttery and covered in chocolate and nuts, a simple homemade treat that makes a magical gift.
7ozmilk cooking chocolate(200 grams or 1 1/4 cups)
¼cupcrushed pecans

Instructions
Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F). Spread almonds on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes, stirring halfway. Let cool, then roughly chop and spread on a silicone mat–lined baking tray.
In a saucepan over medium heat, stir butter, sugar, salt, and vanilla with a wooden spoon until dissolved. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to low–medium heat. Stir continuously for about 10 minutes, until the toffee turns a light golden brown (just lighter than the almond skins).
Carefully pour the hot toffee over the almonds and spread evenly with the back of a wooden spoon. Let cool completely.
Break chocolate into pieces and microwave at 50% power for 2 minutes, stirring halfway. Spread over the cooled toffee, then sprinkle with crushed pecans.
Refrigerate until firm. Break into bite-sized shards by hand.
