“On the table next to me was a tall drink. It looked like iced apple juice, with a green straw and a paper parasol stuck through a maraschino cherry.”

What is Nectar?

What does Nectar taste like?

Like ambrosia, the taste of nectar is unique to each person. Nectar might look like apple juice, but when Percy takes his first sip, it tastes exactly like liquid comfort food: his mom’s blue chocolate chip cookies. So make your own personalized nectar– the flavor is completely up to you!

In classical Greek mythology and the Percy Jackson series, both ambrosia and nectar are known as the food and drink of the gods.

In classical Greek mythology, nectar is drunk to sustain the gods’ immortality and youthfulness, while ambrosia, when eaten, has the same effect.

In the Percy Jackson series, both nectar and ambrosia are used as healing tools, which Percy discovers after his encounter with a Minotaur.

There are also differences between the classics and the Percy Jackson series. In the classics, it is said that a sip can make a human immortal. However, in the Percy Jackson series, if a mortal were to drink any, it would “burn [them] up.” Very different outcomes!
