Mrs. Rabbit’s Camomile & Apple Cooler
With several little bunnies at her feet, Mrs. Rabbit had plenty of experience and knows exactly which herb to reach for! Learn about why Mrs. Rabbit would have reached for Camomile, then make a refreshing Camomile and Apple cooler drink to serve at your next Peter Rabbit party.
What is Camomile? Camomile, often spelled chamomile, is a daisy-like plant known for its delicate flowers and sweet scent. There are two varieties: German Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)

Why Would Mrs. Rabbit Serve Peter Camomile?
When Peter returns home with an upset stomach and frazzled nerves after his escapades in Mr. McGregor’s garden, it’s no surprise Mrs. Rabbit reached for chamomile. It’s been recorded since the 1st century of chamomile being used to soothe digestive issues and calm the nerves. However, chamomile’s gentle nature has made it particularly suitable for children over 6 months. So, for centuries, parents have trusted chamomile to soothe their children’s digestive troubles, reduce irritability, and promote sleep.
The Use of Herbs in 18th Century England
There were no anti-nausea medicines from the pharmacy back in Mrs. Rabbit’s day! Instead, herbs were used to tend to ailments in the family. A kitchen garden didn’t just grow vegetables- they also included edible flowers and medicinal herbs like chamomile, lavender and fennel.
